Effective 2026-06-27

Acceptance

By accessing the Society's website or by participating in any service operated under the Society's name, the user accepts these Terms as the canonical legal framing of that access and participation.

These Terms are issued by the Society as an institutional publication and govern the relationship between the Society and those who engage with its public surfaces and member services.

The Society's Role

The Society is a scholarly institution. Its website, publications, and member services exist to advance its institutional purposes. Nothing made available through the Society's surfaces constitutes legal advice, professional counsel, or a substitute for the independent judgement of a qualified practitioner.

Permitted Use

Members and visitors may use the Society's website for lawful purposes consistent with the Society's institutional character and with the Acceptable Use Policy.

Use that interferes with the integrity, security, or scholarly purpose of the Society's services is not permitted.

Intellectual Property

The Society's publications, branding, and editorial works are the intellectual property of the Society or of the contributors who have licensed them to the Society. The Society's Copyright Policy governs use, attribution, and licensing.

Member Conduct

Members and visitors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the Society's Community Standards and Acceptable Use Policy. The Society reserves the right to take such measures as are necessary to uphold those standards.

Availability

The Society endeavours to make its services available without interruption but does not warrant continuous availability. The Society may from time to time suspend, modify, or discontinue services for institutional reasons, with appropriate notice where practicable.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Society's liability arising from use of its website or services is limited to the direct consequences of the Society's own institutional acts and omissions and excludes indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

Governing Framework

These Terms form part of the Society's canonical Legal and Governance Framework and are to be read together with the Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Community Standards, and other institutional publications referenced therein.

The Society may amend these Terms by issuing a revised institutional publication. Amendments take effect on the date stated in the revision history.
