The canonical institutional agreement that defines the relationship between the Society and its members.
Effective 2026-06-27
Nature of Membership
Membership in the Society is an institutional relationship rather than a commercial transaction. It binds the member to the Society and the Society to the member through a shared commitment to scholarly inquiry and institutional continuity.
Admission
Admission to membership is granted by the Society upon application and acceptance of these terms together with the Community Standards and Acceptable Use Policy.
Rights of Members
Members are entitled to participate in the scholarly and institutional life of the Society according to the privileges of their category of membership, to access publications and services made available to members, and to be heard through the institutional channels established by the Society.
Obligations of Members
Members are obliged to conduct themselves in accordance with the Society's Community Standards, to honour the Society's institutional commitments, and to remit any subscription, fee, or contribution properly owing under their category of membership.
Term and Renewal
Membership endures for the term established by the Society. Renewal is governed by the institutional terms in force at the date of renewal.
Suspension and Termination
Membership may be suspended or terminated by the Society where the member's conduct is inconsistent with the Community Standards or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. A member may resign membership at any time by written notice to the Society.
Continuity
This Agreement is to be read together with the Refund Policy, the Community Standards, the Acceptable Use Policy, and the Terms of Service.
