Institutional Commitment

Refund Policy

The Society's canonical institutional posture concerning refunds of membership subscriptions, programme fees, and related contributions.

Effective 2026-06-27

Character of Contributions

Subscriptions, fees, and contributions received by the Society support its institutional purposes and are applied to the scholarly and operational work of the Society.

General Principle

The Society approaches questions of refund with institutional good faith. Where a member has been charged in error, where a service for which a fee has been paid has not been rendered, or where exceptional circumstances warrant, the Society will consider refund on its merits.

Considerations

Requests for refund are considered against the following editorial considerations.

  • Whether the contribution was made in error or in the absence of informed consent.
  • Whether the service or benefit for which the contribution was made has been rendered.
  • Whether exceptional personal or institutional circumstances bear upon the request.
  • Whether granting refund is consistent with the Society's obligations to its membership as a whole.

Process

Requests for refund are addressed in writing to the Society's offices through the channels published on the Society's website. The Society will respond within a reasonable period.

Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Policy limits any non-waivable statutory right to refund that a member may have under applicable law.
