Copyright Policy

The Society's canonical institutional posture concerning the ownership, attribution, and permitted use of its editorial and scholarly works.

Ownership

The editorial works, publications, branding, and visual identity of the Society are the intellectual property of the Society or of contributors who have licensed their work to the Society on terms consistent with this Policy.

Attribution

The Society credits the authorship of works it publishes in accordance with its Editorial Standards. Members and external parties are expected to attribute the Society's works in any permitted use.

Permitted Use

Quotation and citation of the Society's publications for scholarly, educational, and journalistic purposes are permitted on customary scholarly terms.

Reproduction, redistribution, translation, or commercial use of the Society's works requires written permission from the Society, save where expressly authorised by an applicable licence.

Contributor Licensing

Contributors to the Society's publications grant the Society such licence as is necessary to publish, archive, translate, and present their work within the Society's editorial corpus. The terms of contributor licensing are set out in the Society's Publication Ethics and editorial governance.

Infringement

The Society takes infringement of its intellectual property and that of its contributors seriously. Notices of alleged infringement are addressed under the Society's DMCA Policy.

Continuity

This Policy is to be read together with the DMCA Policy, the Publication Ethics, and the Terms of Service.
